Simple Ways to Become A Postpartum Doula

Hello friends,

I am often asked how to become a postpartum doula. And while there are so many ways onto this pathway, I love to share simple ways to dip your toes into this passionate work. As always, feel free to message me to book a 1 on 1 doula coaching session. It can be a lot to navigate your postpartum doula journey but I am here to help!

These are a few of my favorite tips ⬇️

🤱🏼ask a momma friend if you can help for free

🍂Sometimes all it takes to start on this path is supporting a friend in need. Try simply asking if there is anyway you can help or offer some options like light dishes, laundry and meal prep. Check in and ask if you can improve as a potential doula. It’s always fun to offer a few hours as a baby shower gift too.

🤱🏼take a holistic doula training course

🍂Adding more tools and building in confidence as a doula is key. There are so many workshops and courses now online than when I first started as a doula. Do your research and find a doula that aligns with your goals and ask to see if they are offering any training courses. Some doulas want to be certified through organizations like DONA and I think it is important to know if you need certification in your area. If you decide to go the workshop route or the organization training route, I hope you find your way! I love a combo of both!

🤱🏽make a thoughtful basket of healing + nourishing

🍂By creating a postpartum basket of thoughtful items, you will spend time researching the best products. I feel like this is such a big part of the journey as a doula. Knowing what tools to support your mommas is so important! Take time to curate the coziest bedside basket including snacks and healing items.

🤱🏽create a digital download for expecting mommas

🍂How will you know what your community needs if you don’t show them what they deserve? I love creating free digital downloads and putting them on Pinterest and the like to connect with potential clients. Not only is this good for your business but the time and research put into the product will boost your knowledge and confidence.

Feel free to reach out to me if you need additional support - postpartum doulas are trained and passionate about supporting mothers through their journey of healing no matter the season they are in.
