My Simple Postpartum Front Door Flower Drop Off Basket DIY

blue front door with garden boots postpartum flower drop off basket DIY fresh flowers in pots

instead of knocking on the door & leaving flowers for a postpartum momma 💗🌱🌷🧺 Hello Fresh flower friday!

I feel like it needs to be said that dropping by unannounced with flowers might be the very thing to send you as postpartum momma. While dropping off fresh flowers might be one of the sweetest acts of love, it can feel daunting during those breastmilk soaked tshirt kind of days after birth. Instead of welcoming guests all day when you are still in the newborn stage, do this instead ⬇️ 🌷🌱💗🥹🧺

make a drop off postpartum flower basket 🧺

here’s how to do it ⬇️

💗find a lightweight hanging basket to put on your front door - I chose something light with a flat backing to lay against the door. I also picked a basket that can hold a good amount of flowers. Pro tip: Add a mason jar to the basket and keep water inside for fresh flower delivery.

🌱use a command hook to protect the door from damage but make sure it can handle weight - another important step is finding the right hook that can hold the weight of the basket and flowers.

🌷source some dried florals to start with or leave it empty with a tag sharing what to do for your friends - Make it super simple and leave a tag with details about what to do for your friends to drop off flowers. I love leaving a POLAROID camera outside for each family member to take a photo with their fresh flowers before leaving. They can leave a little note if you keep a sharpie pen in the basket too. You could also start your “flower train” with some dried florals and tie a note to each bunch to say thank you to your friends for dropping off fresh flowers: “take a bunch, leave a bunch, thanks a bunch!”

🧺send the sweetest text to your friends sharing about your floral basket and how it could use a little refresh weekly 💗 - don’t be afraid to share your need for fresh flowers as much as a meal train. There is nothing more special than fresh flower friday!

Choose where you want to hang your flower basket and place a hook on it about 24 hours before hanging the basket.

Choose a basket that can hold fresh and dried flowers without it breaking. I love this one because it gives our home a more cottage vibe and it actually holds super well. I notice when we open and close the door, it doesn’t create any damage or make a peep!

Choose some dried florals until you receive your fresh flower DELIVERIES. I love leaving little notes on each bunch of dried florals that says “take a bunch, leave a bunch, thanks a bunch!” I purchased this bunch of lavender at Trader Joe’s but i SOMETIMES ORDER THEM ON aMAZON TOO.

Something else you could do to save money is drying some florals and herbs from your own garden to place in the basket for friends to swap out with fresh florals. I am dreaming about putting some rosemary in my basket for winter!
