WHAT IS IN SEASON DURING JULY FOR POSTPARTUM?

Staying in season with the earth while in a tender season 🥹💓🌼

I LOVE FILLING MY KITCHEN WITH IN SEASON PRODUCE, HERBS AND FLORALS. I FIND WHEN I STAY CONNECTED WITH THE SEASONS, I FIND SO MUCH HEALING. HOW DOES ONE STAY SEASONALLY CONNECTED WITHIN A WHOLE NEW SEASON, POSTPARTUM? I OFTEN GET THIS QUESTION from MY POSTPARTUM MOMMA CLIENTS. AND I CAN TRULY SAY THAT THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS DO TO THIS. I ALWAYS ENCOURAGE A FEW TIPS ALONG THE JOURNEY OF EATING SEASONALLY:

🪴CONNECT WITH A LOCAL FARM AND ORDER A CSA BOX: A FRESH FARM BOX DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR MONTHLY CAN BE THE VERY BEST WAY TO STAY GROUNDED IN THE SEASONS. LEave THE FARMERS TO THE WORK IN GUIDING YOUR BODY WITH THE PERFECT PRODUCE IN SEASON. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO LOOK FOR A BOX THAT IS EQUALLY AS HELPFUL FOR YOU, AS THE FARMERS. MEANING LOOK TO PURCHASE FROM AN ORGANIC LOCAL FARM THAT SUPPORTS THEIR FARM AND SUPPORTS YOUR HEALTH. LOCAL BEING THE GOAL BUT TRULY DO THE BEST YOU CAN. DON’T KNOW WHO IS LOCAL IN YOUR AREA? VISIT A NATURAL FOOD STORE AND ASK AROUND TO WHERE THEY PURCHASE THEIR ORGANIC PRODUCE. I LOVE FARM FRESH TO YOU IF THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO ACCESS A CSA BOX.

🪴FOCUS ON YOUR CRAVINGS DURING THE SEASON: WHAT IS YOUR BODY NATURALLY TELLING YOU IT NEEDS DURING POSTPARTUM AND THE SEASON YOU ARE IN. YOU MIGHT BE IN AWE TO FIND YOUR BODY ALREADY IS CRAVING THE FOODS WITH NUTRIENTS THAT YOU ARE NEEDING. listen to your body, honor it.

THIS MONTH OF JULY I FIND MOMMAS HAVING A TOUGH TIME FIGURING OUT HOW TO BALANCE WARM HEALING MEALS FOR POSTPARTUM WHILE BEING IN THE THICK OF THE HEAT (HELLO CALIFORNIA!!). I WOULD ALWAYS ENCOURAGE BALANCE DURING THIS SEASON WHILE HOT SOUPS AND STEWS CAN FEEL HEAVY. BE EASY WITH YOURSELF, THERE ARE NO RULES IN TERMS OF DOING THIS OR THAT which WILL EQUAL HEALING! EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT AND MORE THAN ANYTHING KEEPING YOU FILLED WITH NUTRIENT DENSE FOODS AND PEACE IS THE GOAL. TAKE OUT THE RULES.

HERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO BLEND SEASONAL PRODUCE DURING THIS MONTH OF JULY + MY FAVORITE BENEFITS:

PRODUCE-

🌼 BLACKBERRIES and strawberries: PACKED WITH SO MANY NUTRIENTS INCLUDING HIGH LEVELS OF VITAMIN C WHICH SUPPORTS WOUND HEALING AFTER BIRTH. ALSO FILLED WITH AMAZING FIBER TO SUPPORT YOUR FIRST BOWEL MOVEMENT DURING THE FIRST FEW WEEKS POSTPARTUM.

🌼TOMATOES: CONTAIN ANTIOXIDANTS THAT SUPPORT YOUR BODY SUCH AS ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID, LYCOPENE, CHOLINE, FOLIC ACID, BETA-CAROTENE AND LUTEIN. ALL OF THIS TO SAY TOMATOES = DELICIOUS + MAKES YOU FEEL REALLY GOOD!

🌼STONE FRUIT: LIKE PEACHES ARE KNOWN FOR VITAMIN A AND POTASSIUM. POTASSIUM IS ESSENTIAL TO BREASTFEEDING. THE FIBER, NUTRIENTS AND ABSOLUTE AMAZING TASTE MAKE STONE FRUIT ONE OF MY FAVORITES FRUITS FOR POSTPARTUM.

🌼WATERMELON: ALTHOUGH IT IS COOLING VERSUS WARMING, I FIND IN MODERATION, CAN BE EXACTLY WHAT A HEALING BODY NEEDS FOR HYDRATION. HAVING A TOUGH TIME DRINKING ENOUGH WATER AS YOU HEAL? TRY BLENDING WATERMELON TO MAKE A JUICE. I LOVE USING WATERMELON JUICE AS NEEDED TO REPLENISH AND REVITALIZE A MOMMA POST BIRTH.

HERBS + FLORALS-

🌼ROSEMARY: IN OIL FORM CAN BE SUPPORTIVE TO APPLY TOPICALLY ON YOUR SCALP (ALWAYS MAKE SURE THIS IS RIGHT FOR YOUR BODY - NOT MEDICAL ADVICE) TO SUPPORT HAIR LOSS AFTER BIRTH. ROSEMARY CAN PROMOTE HAIR GROWTH, STRENGTHENS THE HAIR FOLLICLE, MINIMIZES AND PREVENTS HAIR LOSS.

🌼CALENDULA: SUPPORTS THE REPAIRING OF DAMAGED SKIN CELLS AND CONTAINS ANTI INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES. I LOVE CREATING A HEALING SITZ BATH FOR MOMMAS AFTER BIRTH TO PROMOTE HEALING.

🌼LEMON BALM: offers the nutrients needed to support anxiety. this soothing herb can support your body during the first weeks when anxiety after birth can be the most triggered with this new season and changes.

🌼nETTLES: IS IRON RICH IN NUTRIENTS AND CAN REDUCE INFLAMMATION AFTER BIRTH. I LOVE CREATING A HEALING TEA OF NETTLES AND WILD HONEY.

as always check with your own body and your postpartum dream team before ingesting any of the produce mentioned above. this is not medical advice but meant to be educational.

happy healing!
