How to Poop After Birth Guide
what to eat for your post birth bowel movement
☺️🚽☀️🌼🥹💓
The first bowel movement after birth can really make mommas nervous. There is so much social media about the pains of it but very little support how to prevent it. The momma clients I support know how to nourish themselves after birth to benefit their digestive health. Yay to feeling so so good! I want you to feel the same 🥹
Here is the perfect guide to preparing your body for the first 💩
As always, the body after birth needs a balance of:
💫hydration - to soften the stool
💫simple ingredients - minimize digestion working double time
💫warming with spices and temperature - calming
💫easy digestible - again, so the body can do less work while healing
There are my favorite healing meals for after birth to stimulate and nurture your body for the first bowel movement:
🍲 Stewed Fruits: this is definitely not a new concept, myself among many doulas love a simple recipe of dried fruits, coconut oil and spices. The enzymes, fiber and natural stimulant of this blend can be exactly what the body needs.
💫How to: prep a batch of stewed fruit before birth/ask a friend to drop it off to you. Eat fruits on an empty stomach with a cup of tea or warm water. Wait 1 hour to continue eating additional meals. Usually within that first hour your body will have the urge to 💩 without pain.
💫 My recipe: Postpartum French Compote
🍵 Teas: look for warming teas that have a balance of healthy fats and healing spices/herbs. These teas will warm the belly and calm the body.
💫 How to: prep these teas and store in a freezer cube tray. Bring to your birth and add hot water to the cubes. Enjoy a warm cup of tea on an empty belly between meals.
💫 My Recipe: I love my Sunshine Latte and my Chamomile Honey Latte
🍲 Soups: ….you’ll have to check out both my guides for more details what soups and why 💓
