How to Connect with Yourself Again
Hello friends,
Postpartum is a time to meet your baby after carrying them for many months but it also is a time to meet yourself. I love sharing tips for my momma clients to learn more about connecting with themselves in this new season. Give yourself time to reconnect and discover yourself in this new season. Often times we put so much pressure on ourselves that we need to know all the things - “Why am I reacting like this? What is causing me anxiety? Why am I acting different?” What if you took the time to learn about yourself and see what you find? As always, give yourself so much grace, time and love.
These are a few of my favorite tips ⬇️
🤱🏼Start an easeful hobby that brings you joy
💗Simply find a hobby that you are enjoying in this specific season. It doesn’t need to require the most epic artistic skills. It could look like knitting some coffee coasters or making some baby socks. What I am loving right now is to do little foot prints on canvas and then add pressed dried flowers to each foot print. So adorable! Keep things easeful and nurture your creative needs.
🤱🏼Listen to your body’s feedback: what is it saying?
💗In the routines of caring for your baby, it is too easy to go hours without eating, sleeping, connecting with yourself. I love to encourage daily check ins that include asking yourself about how your belly is feeling, where is your daily bowel movements and what does your heart need? When you make space for a daily 1-2 minute check in, you make space for the feedback your body is sharing. This feedback helps you thrive! Instead of ignoring those stomach rumbles and headache, tune in, connect, then listen.
🤱🏽Stretch your body while sipping hot tea
💗The coziest moments are those that incorporate body movement and warm healing elements like tea. I love creating a small space in a home that encourages stretching - lay out your mat, place a hot cup of tea near by and turn on a candle. This can be 5-10 minutes but these moments will be remembered forever.
🤱🏽Turn off distractions, hold your heart and just breathe
💗Sometimes we need the reminder to reconnect. What chatter is going on inside your head? What grief or fears is your heart holding? Have you breathed deep into your belly and beyond? Putting a simple timer on your phone every day can help remind you to take a moment to reconnect. But after that timer goes off, turn off the phone for a bit too.
🤱🏽Connect with a deeper purpose by feeding your spiritual needs
💗We often put so much focus on our physical and emotional needs but disregard one of the biggest pieces - we all have a deep spiritual need that must be honored and supported. Grab a journal and start writing some questions and thoughts you have. If you are feeling something is lacking, this might be the time to connect with your own spiritual needs. This looks different for every single person!
