Herbs for Mother’s Recovery POSTPARTUM EDITION
Hello friends,
Herbs have a beautiful value during postpartum. I love learning the benefits of so many herbs and sharing them with my clients. As always, do your own research for what is best for you.
These are some specific herbs I love to use for after birth recovery:
🌷Nettle Leaf: nourishing, anti-inflammatory and supports the adrenals
💗Nettle is full of so many nutrients especially iron which helps prevent anemia. It also supports healthy blood circulation and promotes energy levels and milk supply. Nettle is rich in vitamins and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium and B vitamins. It also contains anti- inflammatory, natural antihistamine and anti-microbial properties - all beautiful for postpartum healing! Nettle also supports the body as a natural diuretic and supports the adrenals. What a beautiful herb!
🌷Chamomile: supports the body through anxiety and promotes a calm body for more rest
💗Chamomile is known for its calming effects and therapeutic properties. It is also beneficial for its an anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-depression and lactogenic effects. While there is not enough evidence based on studies about the benefits of it being a galactagogue, I have seen it support many mommas for years. This beautiful floral can support calming the body which can increase sleep and decrease anxiety and depression.
🌷 Motherwort: supports uterine toning and supports emotional balance
💗Motherwort has been used in Chinese medicine to prevent postpartum hemorrhage. It supports toning the uterus which soothes the pain of uterine contractions. It is also considered a nerving which promotes emotional balance for the postpartum momma.
🌷Blessed Thistle: supports healthy milk supply and is anti-inflammatory
💗Blessed thistle is a herb used to increase breast milk supplies. It also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
