Friendly Reminders for First Time Mommas
Hello friends,
If you are looking for some simplistic tips to prepare you for postpartum, this is the post for you. I love preparing first time mommas with these simple but essential tips. And often times writing them on sticky notes close by the bed can be super helpful too!
These are a few of my favorite tips ⬇️
❄️ your friends want to help - simply ask for meals, support or a listening ear
🫖 Putting together a beautiful wishlist prenatally and send it to your friends. Your friend circle wants to surround and support you but in the first weeks visitors can feel overwhelming and visitors can be overwhelmed how to help. Simply revisiting your wishlist can allow you to give friends small tasks that make them feel needed, and help you feel supported and special.
❄️check in with yourself - always listen to your gut
🫖 Always listen to your gut! Mommas have a deep knowing what their baby needs. Focus on reassuring yourself verses doubting yourself. It takes time to connect with your momma gut. I love keeping a journal next to the bed to add a few thoughts in the morning before starting the day. Review your notes every couple weeks and reflect on what you felt confident, worried, excited about and see how you have grown.
❄️choose rest over everything else - small naps add up
🫖 Hours go by so slow but so fast during postpartum. By preparing ahead of time for your need for rest you can truly benefit. Your body will need rest over everything else. Prioritize it by choosing small naps throughout the day along with your evening sleep. Asking family, friends and overnight doulas to help in the evenings can be a game changer.
❄️you might not feel hungry at first - eat when your baby eats
🫖 Most mommas share with me that they don’t have a huge appetite for anything after birth. Continue to offer yourself snacks and warm foods every time you feed your baby. This will help hydrate and nourish your body to heal and feed your baby. Having a hard time figuring out what to eat during postpartum?
Feel free to reach out to me if you need additional support - postpartum doulas are trained and passionate about supporting mothers through their journey of healing no matter the season they are in.
