24 Hours After Birth Guide - 3 Essentials to Have

24 hours after birth - 3 essential items to have 🧺💓🪺🌷🌼🪴🥹

I support mommas every day and I believe in a very intentional curated postpartum post birth bag. After birth healing doesn’t require the moon and stars but packing impactful items can make all the difference. No matter where you are giving birth, these are my three essential items that are a must for after birth healing ⬇️

🪴 Heat Pad - electric or microwavable, you will need and love it

🧺Why Essential? Heat can ground your anxious body, support uncomfortable after birth tension in the body and remedy any discomfort. Snuggling up to a warm heat pad can be the very element to calming your body and mind. I haven’t supported a momma that a simple heat pad hasn’t brought wonders to their heart and body.

🪴Organic Cotton Pads - preferably  the overnight, extra large with wings kind of pads.

🧺Why Essential? Finally there are more breathable and less toxic options for pads. Remove synthetic fibers as much as possible by using organic cotton which breaths better and allows your body to be less exposed to chemicals. While mommas share they need to change them more often (hello cotton verses synthetic plastics, absorbs the same but the material works differently) it always is a better choice to allow heat to escape the body.

🪴Cotton Bengkung Belly Binder - supportive layered compression from the hips to under the breasts.

🧺Why Essential? Depending on your birth, you will want a supportive compression from your hips to under your breasts. The body creates the relaxin hormone during pregnancy that loosens and relaxes your muscles, joints and ligaments to help your body stretch and prepare for birth. This hormone is still in the body for the first 6 weeks - 9 months after birth. With this looseness the body feels more prone to injury. A belly binder can feel supported, aligned and grounded. I love a cotton belly binder that is skillful placed from this hips (absolutely key!) all the way up through the belly to under the breasts. Cotton is a nonnegotiable as we want heat to naturally escape. Sweaty cold for plastic belly binders against the belly is never a good thing (this is a really unfortunate way to get skin rashes).
