DIY Pressed flower + Avocado dyed belly binder

This diy was so fun to do! I have been storing avocado skins and pits for a few weeks in the freezer to do this diy. aFTER THE BIND WAS DYED, i FORGED FLOWERS FROM MY GARDEN TO DO A FLORAL PRESSING ON THIS COTTON BELLY BINDER. nOW MY COTTON bENGKUNG BELLY BINDER IS READY TO MAKE MOMMAS FEEL AMAZING! thIS IS A BEAUTIFUL ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR FRIENDS AT A NESTING PARTY. WHEN WE ROMANTICIZE OUR POSTPARTUM JOURNEY WITH THESE BEAUTIFUL ELEMENTS, WE FEEL LOVED AND HEALED.

Follow my simple guide to dye + print your belly binder below

items you will need:

cotton Belly binder

6-10 avocado skins + pits

water in a pot to cover

1/2 cup white vinegar

how to dye your bind:

Place avocado skins + pits in a pot and fill water almost to the top. bring to boil with a lid on top of the pot. in a bowl, allow your belly binder to soak in vinegar + water to cover for 10-15 minutes. Once the bind has soaked and water is boiling. Place bind in the boiled water and then turn it off. Allow bind to soak for 48 hours. once soaked, ring out avo water and allow to air dry. I air dyed mine outside and it worked great but i avoided direct sunlight.

oNCE YOUR BIND IS DYED, LETS GET PRESSING!

hOW TO FLOWER PRESS YOUR BIND:

soURCE WILD FLOWERS THAT HAVE BRIGHT COLORS - THE BRIGHTER THE COLOR AND THE MORE MOIST FLOWER PETALS, THE BETTER THE PATTERN. i LOVED USING HIBISCUS THE MOST FOR SOME FUN COLOR TRANSFERS.

iTEMS YOU WILL NEED:

1 HAMMER

1 COTTON BELLY BINDER

1 PIECE OF WAX PAPER OR PARCHMENT PAPER

hOW TO pRESS FLOWERS:

PLACE YOUR MATERIAL ON A SOLID SURFACE (I FOUND THE CEMENT GROUND WAS BEST OUTSIDE) + PLACE FLOWER ON TOP OF MATERIAL. pLACE PARCHMENT PAPER ON TOP AND HAMMER GENTLY. i FOUND IT TO BE SO ADORABLE WHEN I LAYERED FLOWERS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER TO MAKE NEW PATTERNS. CONTINUE UNTIL YOUR BIND IS DONE.

THIS PROJECT TOOK ME 4 DAYS TO COMPLETE THE AVOCADO DYE PORTION + 1 HOUR TO COMPLETE THE PRESSED FLOWER PORTION.

i HOPE YOU TRY IT! HAPPY NESTING!
