Postpartum Healing During The Summer

i LOVEEEEEE Summer but often times it can be a challenge when it comes to healing traditional methods for postpartum during such a hot season. if you have been following me for a while, i always love to connect with very healing elements that boost more blood flow and circulation during postpartum. that often includes nourishing foods such as soups, teas and warming elements like heat packs and belly binding. so how does one heal in this grounding way without burning up in triple digit weather?

I can only speak for my own location - san diego, california. But summer is absolutely a beautiful season to have your postpartum journey start in. i love sharing simple tips that can celebrate this tender time while honoring the season with all it’s summer sunny glory.

some quick tips + simple swaps for summer time:

🌞Swap soups + stews for stir fry + steamed veggies: if you are meal prepping ahead of time for your postpartum, this can look like simply purchasing pre packaged veggies and lightly steaming them during postpartum. super simple!

🌞Switch SYNTHETIC materials for natural fabrics: i love cotton and linen through all seasons but especially when mommas are sweaty. POSTPARTUM ALREADY IS A SWEATY TIME WHEN IT COMES TO HOLDING YOUR BABY AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY. WHY NOT USE THIS TIME TO ALLOW YOUR BODY TO BREATHE THROUGH MATERIALS? ARE YOU REALLY INTO WEARING LEGGINGS MADE OF POLYESTER? SIMPLY SWAP THESE FOR A PAIR OF LINEN SHORTS AND SEE IF YOU NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE. THIS GOES WITH SWAPPING YOUR BEDSHEETS AND BLANKETS - YOU WILL SLEEP SO SO WELL!

🌞mOVE YOUR RESTING SPOTS INTO SHADY COZY SPACES LIKE THE PORCH: I LOVE MOVING THE SPOTS MOMMAS ARE OFTEN GOING TO SPEND THE MOST TIME IN, THE ROCKING/FEEDING CHAIR, TO AREAS THAT WILL CONNECT THEM WITH THE EARTH. I LOVE CHOOSING SPOTS LIKE UNDER A SHADY TREE OR ON A PORCH TO ALLOW THEM TO SOAK IN ALL OF THE SUMMER TIME WHILE HEALING. IF YOU ARE PREPARING FOR LOTS OF REST, WHY NOT FOCUS ON A COZY LOUNGE CHAIR FOR OUTSIDE UNDER A TREE? YOU CAN BE CONNECTED TO THE SEASON WHILE IN THIS TENDER POSTPARTUM SEASON. yOU DON’T NEED TO SACRIFICE ENJOYING THE SUNNY SUMMER TIME FOR BEING IN A DARK COLD ROOM WITH YOUR BABY IF YOU TRULY DON’T WANT TO.

🌞tAKE HEALING ELEMENTS AND MAKE THEM SEASONAL: LIKE A HOT CUP OF TEA - WHILE BEING ABSOLUTELY A WONDERFUL WAY TO SUPPORT YOUR DIGESTION AND BRING YOUR BODY IN A WARMER STATE VERSUS COLD. I LOVE USING THE SEASON TO DO THIS FOR YOU. PLACE A GLASS JAR WITH LID OUTSIDE. POUR IN SPRING WATER + YOUR FAVORITE LOOSE LEAF TEA AND ALLOW IT TO STEEP IN THE SUN FOR A FEW HOURS. ENJOY WITH WILD HONEY.
