Healing Mother Wounds - Postpartum Edition
Hello friends,
If you are on the journey to heal mother wounds before your postpartum journey, I am here to celebrate you! The recovery journey is unique in it’s timeline but absolutely worth it. Take your time as you learn more and more about yourself and what motherhood means to you.
These are a few of my favorite tips ⬇️
🤱🏼connecting with what motherhood means to you
🍂Taking time to understand what motherhood means to you is essential. Motherhood looks different for each person and absolutely layered with so many emotions. Give yourself rest, respect and time. This can look like giving yourself space to feel all of your childhood trauma as an actual child while being mindful of reserving your adult judgement. Honor your childhood experience with your mother by feeling all of the emotions and accepting that motherhood can look different for yourself. Give yourself time every day to connect to your own journey and how to create the path you dream of. Take one day at a time - motherhood changes and grows. Especially as you heal during postpartum, give yourself all of the grace, love and time as you learn more about your own motherhood.
🤱🏼plant a seed when you sense a healing shift in your journey
🍂Create a space to grow plants and flowers. I love encouraging my momma clients to plant a seed every season they notice shifts in their hearts and minds. Find a beautiful garden growing around yourself and your baby in the following seasons.
🤱🏽EMDR therapy + writing your future self notes
🍂Investing time and resources into receiving EMDR therapy is absolutely vital. While I love creating space for mommas to cope, recover and create, there is also space to receive care from a professional. I love EMDR and all of the beautiful benefits! Simply write yourself a few empowering notes to help you feel seen and heard. Some of my favorite are: “what do i need to feel seen today?” and “I matter” and “Anxiety, what are you telling me? How are you trying to help me?”
🤱🏽celebrating your mom through your favorite childhood traditions
🍂Give your favorite memories honor by recreating them in the most special ways with your own baby. I love supporting my momma clients as they reminisce about the special moments like reading books in the moonlight in the coziest family rocking chair. Connect with your own momma through the sweetest moments of your childhood self. Even if you don’t have the most amazing memories with your mom in the past or your current self is healing from more present circumstances, take time to honor and celebrate the memories that bring you the most joy.
Feel free to reach out to me if you need additional support - postpartum doulas are trained and passionate about supporting mothers through their journey of healing no matter the season they are in.
