5 Ways to Advocate for Your Postpartum Recovery
Hello friends,
There are so many ways to advocate for your most healing postpartum journey. I know it can feel overwhelming to know where to start as you navigate preparing for postpartum. That is why I created such a simple and cozy postpartum course filled with everything you will need for your journey. If you haven’t enrolled already, I hope to see you over there!
These are a few of my favorite tips ⬇️
🤱🏼Create a healing plan with your partner involved in every aspect
🍂This is so important! Having your partner apart of your postpartum plan will not only help you ease into healing but them into their role. Often times I have seen partners confused as to what is helpful for mommas. When you share with them what to expect for healing, how long healing takes and how they can best support you - you take all the guess work and confusion out of the picture.
🤱🏼Host a soup themed nesting party instead of a baby shower
🍂Nesting parties are absolutely the sweetest gift you can give yourself! Ask friends to join you as you create nourishing foods together but for a twist, ask them to bring their favorite soup too. Gather and hold a soup contest, reward the most favorite soup with a fun gift. Now stash all those amazing soups in your freezer.
🤱🏽Book postpartum in home massages for the first 6 weeks
🍂During those first tender weeks, leaving your home will be too much. Your body will still need nurturing so why not book ahead of time some amazing massages? I love body work to help mommas feel grounded in their own bodies again post birth.
🤱🏽Read about the basics of the Chinese sitting month
🍂There is so many amazing reads out there to help you learn the basics of the sitting month. While some of the practices might not align with what feels cozy for you, I encourage you to absorb the importance of rest, nourishment and all things cozy.
🤱🏽Before conception save $50 per paycheck for 24 months for doula care
🍂Simply putting aside $50 per paycheck might bring you closer to postpartum care. If you are just daydreaming of becoming a momma, now is the time to just slowly save. This will bring you to about $4-5k of postpartum recovery doula services!
