Belly Binding

BENGKUNG BELLY BINDING

Bengkung belly binding originates from the island of Java and is a tradition that dates back thousands of years. It was later adopted by Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore and has now been popularized through the West as a way of postpartum recovery.

What is belly binding and how does it help with your post birth healing journey?

A long 12-17 yard or more piece of muslin cotton cloth meant to bind the belly post birth.

Binding the Bengkung way is a wonderful tool to supporting post birth healing. Bind low, slow and go with your own flow! Can be supportive of the pelvic floor, abdominal muscle healing and posture. It doesn’t matter the birth you have, you can still bind always!
Unless your practitioner encourages not to of course!

The process is simple, relaxing and meditative. I teach my clients how to bind themselves and it becomes a simple way for post birth self care!

What’s it like using it?

Belly binding should feel like a comforting hug! It also helps the body by pulling some of the pressure of the belly off the pelvic floor which leaves the body supported and relaxed. Professional binding should leave you feeling supported, comfortable and loved!

I use the Bengkung method to binding because of how comfortable it truly is. Of course there are Velcro binds you can purchase but it’s truly not the same. Connect with me to have yourself professionally binded properly and paired with a belly massage for ultimate healing!

All my binds are handmade 100% cotton by my mother in law! Shop my Etsy to purchase your own!
